Jasmine N. Pope Sworn In as President-Elect of the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland
Update: Jasmine N. Pope was sworn in as the Alliance’s 42nd President in June 2026.
On June 10, 2025, the 2025–2026 executive board of the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland, Inc. (ABWA) was sworn in, with Jasmine N. Pope taking office as President-Elect.
The Honorable Shirley M. Watts, Justice of the Supreme Court of Maryland, presided over the ceremony, held in the Kaplan Courtroom of the Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse in Baltimore.
About the Alliance
Founded in 1979, the Alliance of Black Women Attorneys of Maryland is the state’s first bar association developed by and for Black women attorneys. Its stated objective is to maintain the honor and integrity of the legal profession; to promote the administration of justice through its members; to advance and protect the interests of Black women attorneys; to improve the delivery of legal services; and to aid in protecting the civil and human rights of all.
